Anderson pitches complete game as Vikings rally to beat New Providence

The Union Catholic baseball continued its perfect start to the season with a dramatic comeback, scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat New Providence 4-2 on Tuesday in Scotch Plains..

Trailing 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Vikings (4-0) took the lead in the sixth. Michael Pellegrino delivered the game's biggest hit, a clutch double that brought home two runs and put Union Catholic ahead, 3-2. Nick Anderson followed with an RBI single to extend the lead.

Anderson was dominant on the mound, going the distance and earning the win. He scattered seven hits over seven innings, allowing two unearned runs while striking out four and issuing no walks.

Pellegrino and Anderson each drove in two runs, and Brayden Morrison led the Vikings at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance, including a triple. The defense backed Anderson's effort with a strong game, including a double play that helped preserve the lead.

Up next, the Vikings travel to face Somerville on Thursday at 4 p.m.
