Quincy Pearson's late strike was all Union Catholic needed to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hillside on Thursday in Hillside.
After a scoreless first half, Pearson — a lightning-quick junior striker — broke the deadlock in the second half when he converted off an assist from Jack Spagnolo. It marked his seventh goal of the season and gave the Vikings their fourth win of the year.
Senior goalkeeper Ryan Farago was outstanding once again, making five saves to record his third shutout of the season.
Union Catholic (4-7-2) will travel to play Union on Tuesday in the first round of the Union County Tournament.
