Pearson's hat trick sparks UC boys soccer team to season opening win
What a debut.
Junior Quincy Pearson stepped onto the field for the first time in a Union Catholic uniform on Tuesday — and immediately announced himself as a force to be reckoned with. Pearson buried three goals in his first-ever game for the Vikings, igniting UC to a dominant 6-0 season-opening victory over Roselle Catholic in Scotch Plains.
Pearson wasted no time making his mark, striking early to give UC momentum, then adding two more to complete a dream debut hat trick. His speed, composure, and finishing ability electrified the home crowd and set the tone for what could be a breakout year.
But it wasn't just a one-man show. The Vikings' attack was relentless from start to finish. Santiago Wilson, Andrew Smith, and Gia Bao Le each added goals, while Jack Spagnolo served as a playmaking engine with two assists. Brandon Smith, Joey LeTourneau, and Lucas Silva also chipped in with assists as UC's offense clicked on all cylinders.
Meanwhile, on the back line, the defense kept Roselle Catholic bottled up. Goalkeeper Ryan Farago made three saves to secure the shutout and preserve the statement victory.
