The Union Catholic boys basketball teams continued its red hot play with a thrilling 64-58 overtime victory on the road over Paul VI in the quarterfinal round of the NJSIAA South Jersey, Non-Public A Tournament on Friday night in Haddonfield.
The 5th-seeded Vikings, who have won 10 of their last 11 games to improve to 18-9, will play at top-seeded Camden Catholic in the sectional semifinal round on Monday night at 7 p.m.
In the dramatic and hard-fought victory over 4th-seeded Paul VI, the game was tied at 53-53 after regulation. In the overtime period, the Vikings outscored Paul VI, 11-5, to secure the victory.
Most of the offense for the Vikings came from senior guards
Chimeziri Okeoma,
Raheem Williams, and
Keyshawn Winchester, who combined for 48 points and 11 three-pointers..
Okeoma, who made three 3-pointers, led all scorers with 21 points. Williams, who drained four three's, finished with 14, and Winchester (three 3's), added 13 points..
