Rylee Curtis was a brick wall in goal, and Rebecca Frank was the hero upfront as Union Catholic (5-2) battled to a thrilling 1-0 victory over Millburn (0-7) on Saturday in Scotch Plains.

The match was a tense back-and-forth affair, but Curtis came up with 7 big saves, earning her second consecutive shutout and third of the season, while anchoring a defense that has allowed just 7 goals in seven games.

In a scoreless game, the big breakthrough finally came in the 45th minute when Frank pounced on a perfect feed from Madison Farrell, firing a precise shot that gave the Vikings the decisive edge. The goal sparked a wave of energy that carried Union Catholic through the final minutes.

Millburn's Julia Ketkar was equally impressive with 9 saves, keeping her team in the match and forcing the Vikings to battle for every inch. In the end, it was the combination of Curtis' dominance in net and Frank's clutch finishing that secured a hard-fought victory for Union Catholic.
