The Union Catholic girls lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season in impressive fashion, defeating North Warren 9-4 in their home opener on Monday in Scotch Plains.
The Vikings built a steady lead across all four quarters and never looked back, improving to 1-2 on the year.
Senior standout Shannon McGuinness led the offense with four goals and one assist, while Charlotte Donnelly added a hat trick. Delaney Farrell and Ryan Gorski each chipped in a goal apiece to round out the scoring.
It was also a milestone day for Union Catholic goalie Julia Landicho, who reached a career mark of 600 saves during the game. She now stands at 603 after making six stops in the win.
Union Catholic returns to action later this week, looking to build momentum off this strong team performance when the Vikings play at Parsippany Hills on Wednesday.
