McGuinness explodes for 7 goals, including game winner in UC's 10-9 win
Shannon McGuinness delivered a career-best performance on Wednesday, scoring seven goals, including the game-winner with just 1:31 lef, as the Union Catholic girls lacrosse team earned a dramatic 10-9 victory on the road over Parsippany Hills.
The win evens Union Catholic's record at 2-2, while Parsippany Hills drops to 1-2.
In a tightly contested game, Union Catholic jumped out to a 4-2 lead after the first quarter and held a 6-4 advantage at halftime. But Parsippany Hills battled back in the second half, tying the game 6-6 heading into the fourth. Both teams exchanged goals in the final quarter, but it was McGuinness who broke the deadlock, scoring her seventh goal with just 91 seconds remaining.
McGuinness now has 14 goals on the season!
Charlotte Donnelly added two goals and two assists for Union Catholic, while
Delaney Farrell dished out a team-high three assists and grabbed four draw controls.
Angelina Corvalan also chipped in with a goal, and goalie
Julia Landicho made nine saves to preserve the victory.
