Sharpshooting Schorr leads UC boys to pair of wins as Vikings start season 3-0
The Union Catholic boys' basketball team, ranked No. 4 in the state, has launched its 2024-25 season with an impressive 3-0 record, showcasing depth, talent, and dominance in all aspects of the game.
The Vikings have defeated Linden, Westfield, and Brooklyn Collegiate (N.Y.), all on the road to solidify their lofty ranking.
After closing out the game on an 11-2 run to secure a hard-fought season-opening win over Union County rival Linden last Wednesday at Johnson in Clark, the Vikings score a pair of blowout wins over Westfield and Borrokyln Collegiate (N,Y.) over the weekend to improve to 3-0. Luke Schorr was deadly from long-range in the wins over Westfield and Brooklyn Collegiate. He scored 21 points in both games and connected on a combined nine three-pointers in the 2 games.
Union Catholic vs. Westfield
Union Catholic used a 20-4 fourth quarter showing to pull away for a 71-45 at Westfield on Saturday. The Vikings controlled the pace from the tip, showcasing their offensive depth and defensive tenacity.

On Sunday, Union Catholic capped its dominant week with a 70-42 victory over Brooklyn Collegiate at the Brick City Showcase at Weequahic High School in Newark.

The Vikings will take their undefeated record down to Florida for a pair of games in the Miami Holiday Invitational at Miami High School. UC will play North Broward Prep on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and SLAM Miami on Friday at 3 p.m. The Vikings next game after they return from Miami will be their home opener on Saturday, Jan. 4 vs. Roselle Catholic at 6 pm..
