The Union Catholic boys basketball team, riding an electrifying performance by Chim Okeoma, continued its late season surge with a blowout win on the road vs. Livingston on Monday night.

Okeoma hit shots from all over the floor. He sliced through the lane for buckets, scored in transition, and he buried five three-pointers on his way to a career-high 35 points (33 from the floor), and he dished out six assists and had four steals to lead the Vikings to an 82-62 victory over Livingston (13-8 on the season). It's the fourth straight victory (in a six-day span) for the red-hot Vikings, who are now 12-8 on the season.

It's no coincidence that UC's four game winning streak began when Okeoma joined the lineup after having to sit out under the NJSIAA transfer rule. Okeoma is averaging 21.3 points per game in his four games.,

UC's winning streak started last Wednesday when Okeoma scored 23 points in his Vikings debut, and senior guard Keyshawn Winchester drained a long-range 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Vikings a heart-pounding 58-57 win at home over Union, which gave the Vikings a final record of 7-4 in the rugged Watchung Conference.

Two days later, the Vikings, who play one of the toughest schedule's in the state, jumped out to an 18-4 lead and went on to knock off Manasquan, ranked No. 8 in the state at the time, 59-53, in the Metro Classic at Kean University. The next day, the Vikings celebrated Senior Day with a dominating 76-56 win over Newark Lab.

Coach Jim Reagan Jr.'s squad is catching fire at the right time as the Vikings continue to build momentum heading into the Union County Tournament and the State Tournament later this month.

UC will seek a fifth straight victory on Thursday when it hosts West Caldwell Tech at 5:30 p.m.
