Keyshawn Winchester, Raheem Williams, and AJ Altobelli combined for 34 points to spark the Union Catholic boys basketball team to a 62-52 victory over crosstown rival Scotch Plains-Fanwood on Saturday at Union Catholic.

Union Catholic used its size advantage and transition offense to open a 31-20 halftime lead, and stayed in control the rest of the way as the Vikings improved to 7-7 on the season. Scotch Plains Fanwood, which had won four straight games, fell to 8-5.

Winchester, a senior guard, led the Vikings with 13 points. Williams, also a senior guard, finished with 11, and Altobelli, a sophomore guard, scored 10 points. UC's big men, 6-8 FK Muntari (nine points) and 6-11 Yaw Ansong (seven points) played strong on both ends of the court.

The Vikings will be back in action on Tuesday at Plainfield..
