The UC swim team caps undefeated season with a victory over Linden

The Union Catholic swim team, led by triple winners Julian Kaniuka and Jack Perreault, capped off its amazing undefeated dual meet season with a dominating victory over Linden on Monday at the Woodbridge Community Center.

The Vikings defeated the Tigers 110-60 to put an exclamation on an 8-0 season.

Kaniuka, a senior, turned in another sensational performance for the Vikings. He won the 50 freestyle in 25.19 and the 100 fly in 56.70, and swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay. Perreault, a sophomore loaded with talent, finished first in 100 free in 54.96 200 freestyle and the 100 back in 1:070, and he wa a member of the victorious 200 freestyle relay.

Junior Bridget Davis, the school record holder in the 200 and 500 freestyle, was her usual splendid self. Davis won the 200 free in 1:59.45, and swam on the winning 400 free relay. William Spreeman also had a huge day for the Vikings. He finished first in the 500 freestyle on 6:10.64 and he was a member of the 400 free relay.        

Although the dual meet season is complete, the swim season continues this Sunday when the Vikings compete at the Union County Championships at the Berkeley Aquatic Club in New Providence.
