UC gymnastics team wins season opener
The Union Catholic gymnastics team started its 2025 season in impressive fashion, defeating Union by a decisive score of 100.75–70.075 on Friday night in Union.
The Vikings (1-0) were led by sophomore standout Lorena Fajardo, who captured the all-around title with a score of 34.45. Fajardo placed first on vault (9.025), first on the beam (8.7), first in the floor exercise (8.775), and added a strong third-place on the bars routine (7.95) to secure the top spot.
UC also received big performances from freshman Aubrey DelCorsano, who finished second in the all-around with a 33.875. DelCorsano posted the highest score on bars (8.1) and added strong efforts on vault (8.95), beam (8.375), and floor (8.45).
Freshman Sarah Donnelly rounded out Union Catholic's all-around trio, placing third with a 32.425, highlighted by an 8.05 on bars.
With a balanced lineup and multiple gymnasts contributing strong scores across all four events, Union Catholic showed early promise as it looks to build momentum for the rest of the season.
