UC gymnastics team scores big win over Piscataway
The Union Catholic gymnastics team improved to 2-1 on the season with a dominant 101.875–91.825 road win over Piscataway on Tuesday.
Leading the charge for Union Catholic was Lorena Fajardo, who delivered an amazing all-around performance, posting a meet-best score of 35.375. Fajardo won all four events, highlighted by a 9.125 on floor and a 9.0 on vault. She also added an 8.65 on beam and an 8.6 on bars to cap off her impressive night.
Teammate Aubrey DelCorsano followed with a strong all-around score of 34.1, boosted by a 9.0 on floor and 8.5 on vault. Sarah Donnelly contributed to the Vikings' effort with a 31.9 all-around, including an 8.5 on vault and 7.925 on floor.
On the Piscataway side, sisters Ariel and Abigail Hayashi led the Chiefs with all-around scores of 32.6 and 31.929, respectively. Ariel's best showing came on beam (8.4) and bars (8.25), while Abigail delivered an 8.3 on beam and a 7.95on floor.
Despite the Hayashis' strong efforts, Piscataway (0-2) struggled to keep pace, particularly on bars and floor, where Union Catholic's depth and execution proved too much.
