Peterson leads undefeated UC girls soccer team to road win over Roselle Park
The Sophie Peterson–Hailey Mullaney connection is quickly becoming unstoppable. Peterson scored two clutch goals, both assisted by Mullaney, as Union Catholic battled past Roselle Park, 2-1, on the road on Tuesday to keep its perfect start alive.
The Vikings (3-0) wasted no time asserting themselves when Peterson, a lightning quick sophomore, buried a Mullaney pass in the 28th minute for her fourth goal of the season.
After Roselle Park's Brianna Appello tied the game midway through the second half, UC responded with championship composure. Thirteen minutes later, Mullaney, a junior with remarkable field vision and dribbling skills, once again found Peterson in stride, and the sophomore striker hammered home her game-winner in the 73rd minute — her fifth goal in just three games.
Goalkeeper Rylee Curtis came up big with four saves to lock down the win.
