In a match that came down to the wire, the Union Catholic girls tennis team secured its second consecutive victory with a dramatic 3-2 win over Roselle Park on Thursday afternoon.

With the match tied 2-2 heading into second doubles, it all came down to the duo of Dulce De Ocampo and Bella Lin for Union Catholic. The pair battled through a tightly contested match to outlast Roselle Park's Melanie Nunez and Isla Gichana in a nail-biting 6-6 (5-7), 6-4, 10-8 triumph that sealed the team win.

Union Catholic (2-1) picked up key wins in both second and third singles. Elizabeth Adegboyega delivered a strong performance with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Alejandra Alston, while Ella Moritz dominated her opponent Brenda Teodoro with a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win.

Roselle Park (1-3) found success in first singles and first doubles. Laina Preval earned a straight-set win over Danielle Chuy, 6-2, 6-2, and the team of Maya Konczynski and Tanisi Dudani edged Sonia Allen and Caroline Cleaveland in a marathon match, 6-2, 3-6, 10-8.

But in the end, it was Union Catholic's second doubles team that delivered under pressure, capping off a thrilling match and giving the Vikings their second straight victory to open the season.
