The UC girls basketball team picked up first win of season by defeating Columbia
The Union Catholic girls basketball jumped out to a big early lead and played a great game on both ends of the floor on the way to its first victory of the season when the Vikings defeated Columbia, 53-27, on Saturday at Union Catholic in Scotch Plains.
The Vikings, who received a game-high 20 points from
Gabrielle Ziegenbalg and 12 points from
Emily Mattson, raced out to a 15-2 in the first quarter and extended the lead to 31-7 at halftime.
Several players contributed to the victory, which evened UC's record at 1-1.
