Reidy hurls no-hitter, Magliacano blasts 2 homers to lift UC to first win
The Union Catholic softball team came up with its first victory of the season in dramatic and exhilarating fashion.
Freshman
Lilah Reidy pitched the game of her life by hurling a no-hitter and striking out 13, and
Olivia Magliacano blasted two homers and drove in five runs to spark the Vikings to 12-0 victory over New Providence on Saturday in New Providence.
The Vikings, now 1-5 on the season, jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. That was more than enough run support for Reidy, who walked just one batter in her masterful performance over a New Providence team that came into the game with a 5-1 record.
Several players contributed offensively for UC.
In addition to Magliacano,
Aniya Fleming had three hits and scored twice,
Deyalyn Sosa knocked in a run and scored two runs, and
Isabella Cruz,
Sarah Potts, and Reidy all drove in a run.
