The Union Catholic softball team came up with its first victory of the season in dramatic and exhilarating fashion.

Freshman Lilah Reidy pitched the game of her life by hurling a no-hitter and striking out 13, and Olivia Magliacano blasted two homers and drove in five runs to spark the Vikings to 12-0 victory over New Providence on Saturday in New Providence.

The Vikings, now 1-5 on the season, jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. That was more than enough run support for Reidy, who walked just one batter in her masterful performance over a New Providence team that came into the game with a 5-1 record.

Several players contributed offensively for UC.

In addition to Magliacano, Aniya Fleming had three hits and scored twice, Deyalyn Sosa knocked in a run and scored two runs, and Isabella Cruz, Sarah Potts, and Reidy all drove in a run.
