Wood and Winchester spark UC basketball team to victory over DePaul
The Union Catholic boys basketball team, led by Co-MVP's
Terrance Wood and
Keyshawn Winchester, won its second straight game to start the season with a hard-fought 57-54 victory over DePaul on Sunday night at the Letrell Duncan Tip-Off Showcase at Weequahic High School.
Union Catholic, which held a 27-21 lead at halftime, was clinging to a one point lead with 18 seconds to go when Winchester, whi finished with 17 points, sank two clutch free throws to give UC a 57-54 lead. DePaul missed a three-pointer on its final possession to end the game.
Wood, a junior forward, had a monster game for UC with a career-high 21 points.
The Vikings will be back in action on Tuesday at 7 p.m. vs. Elizabeth at the Dunn Center.
