UC's Gorski and Williams named to All-State volleyball team

Ryan Gorski and
Rachel Williams, who led Union Catholic to a strong campaign this past season, were honored for their strong play by being named to NJ.com's Non-Public All-State volleyball team.
Williams was chosen Second Team and Gorski Third-Team.
With Gorski and Williams leading the way, the Vikings finished the season by winning 10 of its final 13 matches to finish 18-10 and they reached the final of the Union County championships, and advanced to the semifinal round of the State Non-Public A Championships.
Gorski, a great all-round player, finished the season with 225 digs,183 service points, 60 aces, and 129 kills
"It's a great feeling and I am proud to be recognized,'' said Gorski. "We had a young team this year and we gained a lot of experience that we will look to build on next year.''
Williams, one of the state's best hitters, concluded her season with 226 kills (8 per game), 119 services points, 29 aces, 25 blocks, and 52 digs.
"It's a honor to be recognized for all the hard work,'' said Williams. "It's something to be very proud of.''
UC head volleyball coach Nancy Saggio said it's a great honor to have Gorski and Williams chosen to the All-State team.
"The coaching staff is extremely proud of Ryan and Rachel for being recognized by NJ.com,'' said Saggio. "We look forward to having them continue to contribute to the program.''
